Gunter & Co's top picks for interior design shopping in London - Pimlico Road

Part One: Pimlico Road

Something we often get asked by clients and friends alike is where we go shopping for all of our projects. With this in mind we wanted to highlight some of our favourite luxury interior design showrooms to visit in London.

From many years’ experience we know that where possible it is always worth trying to see things in real life. Check out the texture of a tile, assess and touch the curve on a basin, try out the comfort level of a sofa. London has so many amazing showrooms to visit in just one day, so we’ve broken it down into separate areas which we’ll share with you as a series of six, from Pimlico Road to Fulham Road, Chelsea and South Kensington and everything in between! This is usually how we plan our own showroom trips to ensure they’re as efficient and streamlined as possible (and that there’s time to schedule a refreshment stop or two!)

As we can now begin to plan some shopping and showroom visits in London within the next few weeks, we wanted to bring you some suggestions for those first heady days when we are back to a new normal …

Naturally, with any of our suggestions, it’s a good idea to call or email ahead of your planned visit to check opening times and availability and many places may be by appointment only.

Interior design on the Pimlico Road

For this new series, we’re starting off in Pimlico Road, so get those walking shoes on and your notebook ready and prepare to be inspired!

Ochre has a beautiful and subtle collection of lighting, upholstery, mirrors and accessories.

The Michael Reeves Design Showroom is inspiring, with great use of subtle shades and stand-out pieces of artwork.

Nicholas Haslam’s Ebury Street Showroom is a joy to visit, as well as interior accessories there’s also Buccellati  jewellery, silver and other precious items to see and (be still my beating heart!) gorgeous shoes by Belgian Shoes

For antiques, fabrics, accessories, furniture, blankets and throws, we admire Rose Uniacke for her impeccable taste …

Try Promemoria for inspirational ideas for bespoke furniture and kitchens, as well as upholstery and lamps.

If fabrics are your ‘thing’ then a look through some of the collections at Fermoie for ideas for upholstery, lampshades, cushions and even for wall coverings – all printed in Wiltshire.

Jamb is a great starting point if you’re searching for inspo for a fireplace, chimney-piece or other fire-related accessories – both original and reproduction. Oh, and they also have antique furniture and lighting …

Howe is entrancing, with a wonderful variety of styles and ideas, all with traditional, authentic and original style, sourced by Christopher Howe. Maybe plan a side trip to their glorious antiques warehouse, 36 Bourne Street

For a sleeker, pared-down style, we like to breathe in the ambience and minimalist vibe at Pinch Design. Simple perfection.

Dramatic furniture, lighting and objects are on display in abundance over at FBC London. Wow-factor lighting and beautiful textured furniture will definitely catch your eye here!

And naturally, a look at the stunning accessories, gifts and globes at Linley is time well spent

Now for a spot of lunch

After all that inspiration you may be in need of a lunch break … one of our Italian favourites is Enotecaturi
