Hampstead Village Duplex Penthouse

Occupying the two upper floors of a Victorian villa on the slopes of Hampstead Village, Gunter & Co was appointed to lead the interior architecture, interior design and project management for a full rebuild of this apartment.

The client brief was to maximise the interior space available, transform the awkward layout to make better use of the balconies and to maximise the views out to the treetops on all sides of the building. The overall style was very contemporary with clean lines, limewashed oak finishes and black accents, but not without a sense of fun and adventure, especially in the bathrooms where colourful taps and tiles provide a lovely element of surprise.

The clients’ love for cooking, coffee and entertaining was reflected by creating a new layout centred around the large kitchen and dining room, making it the hub of the home with a dedicated area for their pet dog, Paddington. We designed the dining room so it could double up as a library featuring book storage for up to 3000 books.
