Irene and Ian’s own family home in Wimbledon has been, of course, a labour of love. The design of their home is a culmination of the many ideas and designs the studio time have wanted to integrate into client projects over the years on top of a large volume of intricate design and construction details, crafts and furniture ideas that Irene and Ian wanted to bring into the fold.
Without wanting to compromise on the design direction, a lot of planning time went into ensuring the house delivered on achieving next level design details whilst remaining a functional and liveable space for a young family, which has frequent children parties and playdates to contend with. No mean feat!
We designed the house to be, for the most part, a peaceful haven for us to relax with family and friends in. One of the big requirements was we wanted to create a living room space that allowed us to look out towards a garden brimming with plants to provide year-round interest - this is where Irene had a lot of fun with the design. The traditional ‘front room’ was disposed of and in its place we installed a hard-working kitchen that faces the road, which allowed us to have a larger living room at the back looking towards the garden.
One of the major features of the build was that we almost entirely rebuilt it to allow for increased ceiling heights. Construction was thankfully relatively swift. This is something entirely down to our incredibly talented team, our builders, extensive product research and the many suppliers who kindly lent their advice on how to achieve the exacting details that Irene and Ian had requested. Be it the tens of samples of paint and wood stains prepared for us to the bespoke ceiling roses and spindles. It was an exemplary example of a collaborative effort.
Due to the confidentiality of our projects we are only able to show a sample selection of our work. Please do get in touch and we would love to show you more
