Gunter & Co Guide to Some of Our Favourite Shopping Areas: Wimbledon

It’s time to bring you another guide to some of our favourite shopping haunts – here we’re focusing on Wimbledon.

As always, we recommend you call or email ahead before making a special journey to any of our suggested destinations, as sometimes shops or showrooms may be closed for a private appointment or consultation.

Wimbledon shopping

We love heading out on a visit to Wimbledon, with its villagey-feel and surrounding green spaces. In tennis season, it has a unique vibe and sense of occasion. There are also lots of very lovely cafés, food stops and fashion shops too, as well as the weekend pizza truck!

Black Radish is a small space, so you’ll need to book ahead, with a seasonal set menu. There’s a private dining room to seat up to eight guests, and chef-owner Toby Cartwright is Michelin Guide listed.

The Wimbledon Farrow & Ball showroom is a joy, we are all familiar with F&B, naturally, but it’s lovely to see the showrooms in person – and to take a look at the latest wallpapers and to feel the texture and quality, rather than look at it on a screen – especially the Liberty collaboration.

Wimbledon Farmers Market is a great place to find new locally prepared specialties. The market is open on Sundays from 9am to 1pm, in Wimbledon Village

Gardenia Florist is at 10 High Street, SW19, has a pretty display of fresh flowers and also does same day delivery to nearby postcodes.

Hicks Gallery in Leopold Road, SW19 is a contemporary gallery, also specializing in prints, artists include Amy Judd and Peter Blake.

Holloways of Ludlow have a magnificent lighting and furniture showroom in Wimbledon, at  14 Church Road, SW19.

Quite frankly, it’s worth heading over to Wimbledon just to visit The Ivy Cafe! It’s at 75 High Street, unreserved tables are available, although we think it’s better to book, naturally! The décor, the floors, the mirrors are all to die for – and that’s apart from the food! Reserve an outdoor table as the decor is lovely on a spring day!

The Japanese Knife Company has six fascinating stores, including one in Wimbledon. Well worth a quick look – prepare to hone your prep skills!

Matches Fashion started off in Wimbledon, so yes, it’s a must-visit destination for our team, when the opportunity arises.

Neptune, at 168-178 The Broadway, SW19 has kitchen collections as well as accessories and furniture on display, all with a warm, restrained country influence.

Odonno's Gelati is a must-visit during the summer, there are dozens of flavours to choose from, and the sorbets are 0% fat, so that means they are healthy, doesn’t it?!

Porcelain Tiles, at 88 High Street, SW19 is next-door-but-one to Farrow & Ball, and is currently open by appointment only. The collection of surfaces includes everything from concrete to marble inspired surfaces, and is an amazing source of inspiration.

Prezzemolo & Vitale is a gorgeous Italian deli with an extensive range of goods which are all beautifully displayed. They have beautiful hampers too, available to order/deliver.

Senti, in Church Road SW19 are fragrance specialists, with beautifully designed diffusers and sprays, reminding us how important fragrance is within a room scheme.

And finally, we also need to mention Sticks'n'Sushi for take-away, dining in, events and even classes, and also the previously mentioned pizza truck, which is Forno Viaggiante, stationed near the Common. If it’s a family walk around the Common, there are often horses to see, and there’s also horse riding, which can be arranged with Wimbledon Village Stables. Plan a visit to the lovely gardens and park at Cannizaro Park, which is just off Wimbledon Common, and of course, is also home to Hotel du Vin Wimbledon at Cannizaro House, SW19.
